No longer using this system, I never tackled the tape that remained on the frame because working with Goo Gone was always such a disaster. After many years, I tackled the door frame today and used your recipe. I like it much better than the purchased product and it worked great, with the addition of a razor blade scraper!! Many thanks 🙂

Not even a little bit. Shame cause the real deal is super caustic. Many of the other cleaners on the site have worked nicely for me. I just wish I could find alternatives that didn’t make my house smell like vinegar.

This is a tricky one. A tiny drop of olive oil can help shine up stainless steel but it sounds like your client has been a bit olive oil happy. You need to cut through the grease without using abrasive cleaners or sponges. I would try with dish soap and a soft sponge to start and if that doesn’t do the job you can try an Enzyme cleaner. I would test an inconspicuous area first, spray it on, let it dwell for about 10 minutes then wipe away with a clean microfiber cloth. Best of luck!

I have my own cleaning company and recently cleaned for a new client. She has been covering her stainless steel refrigerator in olive oil. She read on-line that this is okay and helps the finger marks not show up. Now years of grease have built up on the frig. When I went to clean it I started in one small corner and my mircofiber cloth stuck to the frig. I tried Dawn dish soap deluted with water and it helped but took a lot of scrubbing. I could really tell where I stopped scrubbing!! Any ideas if what she has been using for years has ruined her stainless steel? Should I scrub with something stronger? I am very hesitant to clean the frig for fear that nothing will get what is on it off. When I touch the frif it has a sticky residue on it also which I think is grease.

It also disinfects as well.

Glue residue is tough to remove so this tip will come in handy. If you want to prevent glue residue when you peel a label off. Hit the label with a warm hairblower for about 30 seconds. The label will then peel off cleanly and not leave residue behind. (Be careful that the surface can withstand the heat… I wouldn’t use it on glass as it can crack with a rapid temp change)
